The Enthusiast Policy

For those motorists who like to dabble in the motor trade, or collect cars, but this is not their full time trade or occupation.

Now you can have the convenience of a Motor Trade Policy but still have the cover and use for your full time trade or occupation. You need to be honest and disclose all uses!

Vehicles covered in this policy are:

• Permanently Owned Vehicles:
  These are vehicles (cars, vans, trucks, Motor Cycles, horseboxes, motorised caravans, SORN vehicles etc) owned by you and registered in your name or that of an additional driver. These vehicles need to be disclosed immediately to the Motor Insurers Database (MID), which you can do by using our unique text facilities.
  Vehicles disclosed to the MID enjoy 24hours cover irrespective of parking and full “retail value” if the vehicle was purchased that way.
• Vehicles driven under Trade Plates:
  If you have trade plates you need to disclose them to us. Remember that the vehicles themselves driven under trade plates are allowed for Motor Trade purposes only and all Social, Domestic and Pleasure use is excluded.
• Customers Vehicles:
  Customers vehicles being Road Tested, collected or delivered back.
  All other use and Social, Domestic and Pleasure use is excluded.
• Vehicles Passing through:
  These are stock vehicles intended for resale and not for use other than collection from the original purchaser, delivery to a sub-contractor or MOT station and delivery to a customer. If you have “Demonstration cover” then it would include such use provided that you, the policyholder accompany the purchaser. These vehicles when not being driven as above should be parked off the roadway. They must of course be taxed, unless kept permanently off the road or solely driven under Trade Plates for Motor Trade purposes only.
  Under a Road Risks only policy, stock vehicles are only covered at the address of the policyholder off the road and no other storage places (unless you disclose them to us and pay the additional premium).

There have been a lot of abuses of “Motor Trade” policies as motorists think they can ‘buck’ the system. They cannot and after 40+ years of trading, we think we have come across every ‘ruse’ known. We are not complacent however but very vigilant and crack down hard on these abuses. So if you want to “work the oracle” then do it on someone else!

However if you want a first class Motor Trade Policy and are prepared to comply then you will find us competitive, helpful and not fussed by the vehicles you may drive or persons driving them.
